Butterflies are off the charts! Jen and I must have seen thousands on our hike this last weekend in McKinney Roughs… On the Tree Farm we saw Black and White Swallowtails.. Tiger, and as shown here…the famous and elusive Zebra Swallow tail.. a great sighting ..I have found that to shoot and get close to Butterflies, you have to get up and get out among the wild flowers early in the morning while they are still catching some sun.

The big Field that separates the Chicken farm and the Tree farm was in good shape.. the grasses were easily waist high on me.. and the Dogs love running through the tall grass!

Here are some Shots from up on the recent clear cut at the Tree farm. Its recovering nicely and many of the trees planted have survived the drought so far.. spring was in the air, and my oh my there were some big Thistles!

Nacogdoches Texas has a great drive around the city through 4 historic districts. They call it the Azalea trail. Jen and I got a chance to drive it after the trip to the farm.. Nacogdoches also has the largest Azalea garden in Texas.

Dogwoods were in full bloom the week we were at the farm. Our rains have given us a real spring..Last year? Nothing this year? Boom!

Jennifer and I also found the Long leaf pine that she planted about 10 years ago..its much taller than she is now! I call it cousin It!
