We cruised over to Smith Oaks at High Island which is really a slightly elevated area due to being on top of a huge underground salt dome along the very flat SE Texas Shore. High Island is a tiny town with the first real trees and brush N. of the Gulf of Mexico. It has become a mecca for birders, but due to the high winds we did not see many birds, but we did see this CottonMouth, AKA the water moccasin .. a very venomous snake!
