Whooping Cranes

One of the most endangered species on the planet, Texas has only 230 or so nesting pairs, and I think the entire world population is down to around 600 birds. Jen and I took a skimmer boat tour up into the Aransas national wildlife refuge to see some of these magnificent birds..

The three below, 2 adults and a juvenile were the first we saw on the tour and we were pretty far away..100+ yards or more at least.. but what  a sight..
