There was a home in the center of the lines of Artillery that still stands today, slightly restored but its the original.. there was also some re-enactments going on during our trip including live canon shots that did not go over so well with the Dogs…however.. they are pretty happy in these shots with their mom!
Along the Auto tour the Union and Confederate lines are clearly marked and Gun Emplacements are still where they were…Here we walk along a small ridge line that provided the union forces a spot to lob artillery into the besieged Southern troops.
The Tour Drive takes you around 16 miles of both confederate and union lines at Vicksburg… The drive is lined with State markers for the troops from each state and busts of famous soldiers..
It was the 150th anniversary of the battle and the 4th of July..We toured Vicksburg MS and the National battlefield that may have turned the tide of the civil war.
I had these last few shots of Tyler St. Park posting them up.. it was a beautiful morning for a walk.. but we had ground to cover and it was off to Vicksburg after this..

Tyler St. Park was very green and it was obvious they had seen a little rain.. here some of the plans and terrain from the park..including my nemesis Poison Ivy!
Our trip for the great River road started in Texas as it typically takes 2 days just to drive out of the state…( its big)… here we are north east of Austin in Tyler state park for a morning hike before the drive to Vicksburg.
Sometimes when the weekend comes around.. its fun to see a show…
