Here we see Two Dog flats, Moving North outside the park to Lake Sherburne on the way into Many Glacier… This view shows Salamander Glacier pretty well..
right after the fire area we broke out to the view of St. Mary’s Lake.. and we pulled over.. it was a one of those moments..beauty..stillness…Amazing..
On the east side of the going to the sun road a fire had been going strong for nearly a month before we got there.. it had burned across the road and was contained when we arrived. There were still smoldering spots as we drove through the burn area, and it looked like an alien landscape.
Jackson Glacier is the largest in the park and mostly hidden from the road, This was from an odd Turn out on the GTS road..
After Avalanche lake, we piled into the car and drove up and over the famous going to the sun road..Saw a bear, and the sights were amazing
We had Lunch up at the lake and saw the White house Chief of staff on our hike.. Glacier was about as Dry as I had ever seen it and the lake was low..
After the trail of the cedars, the Avalanche lake trail takes off and climbs about 3 miles up to an alpine lake.. we took off hiking, and these shots are from the last 1/2 mile in…
The rushing waters and channels were amazing, the trail followed the creek for the first mile or so..
One of the more iconic spots in Glacier National park..Avalanche gorge
Super fun approach trail to Avalanche Lake, Trail of the cedars is a boardwalk though a fairly old growth cedar forest.
