Hiking out

April 30, 2012  |  Outdoors  |  Comments Off on Hiking out

Little Paws and I loved the falls but we still had to hike back out and to the car.. we opted for the Heller Brakes trails to complete a loop and see all new terrain. I was starting to get warm so Little Paws would walk ahead and wait for me in the shade….When shade could be found. After leaving the Falls area the terrain becomes classic Hill country.

Ranger

I thought you all may want a quick update on Ranger.. he is doing very well, he did have a bit of a tough winter with the drought. It had made the Hay Locally not as nutritious as one would have hoped. Jen caught it early and got him on some extra feed and supplements.. He is doing great!

Gorman falls is massive.. and wraps around a large cliff..I tried a few things in these shots including propping the camera on a fence pole and slowing the shutter down as much as I could in the bottom photo.. this is an attempt to make the water look silky..

Long hike to Gorman Falls in Colorado Bend St. Park. The Waco Mountain bike club has completed a new set of trails that makes the falls accessible with out a guided tour.. they have opened trails connecting the falls area with the back country area and Falls area with the  spice wood loop.. now its just a matter of how far you want to hike!

On our way back from East Texas we took a little different route so we could stop by Ft. Boggy St. Park. My hope is of course to visit all of Texas public lands at some point. Ft. Boggy has no entrance fee’s a few trails and picnic areas. There are 2 classic CCC structures and a small lake.  Great little park if you happen to be in the area!

Bluebonnets

A great year for the Texas State Flower! The Blue Bonnet! Last year with No rain for months coming into spring we really did not see any of these perennial favorites.. they grow along all the road ways in Texas in a tradition started by Lady bird Johnson.
